One or more postdoctoral fellow positions in Probability or the Mathematics of Data Science are currently available in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work with Professor Aukosh Jagannath. Potential topics include: the mathematics of deep learning, statistical-to-computational trade-offs in high-dimensional statistics and machine learning, and the statistical physics of disordered media. Appointments are typically for two years. Teaching is not mandatory for this position, but the postdoctoral fellow may have the opportunity to teach (with compensation) no more than one course in Statistics or Actuarial Science per academic year based on teaching qualifications. The starting date of the positions is flexible, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The University of Waterloo has a large group of active researchers in Computer Science, Data Science and Statistics, Optimization, Mathematical Physics, and Free Probability who may offer postdocs opportunities.
